May 15, 2007 - The last time we hopped in a Subaru Legacy, we were less than impressed. We were hoping for a mid-sized sedan that boasted some of the WRX's rip-snortin' attitude, but instead we found a four door that drove like an Accord. That's not meant to be a slam on either the Scooby or the Honda, but in the Legacy, we were just hoping for... more. We had the turbocharged 2.5GT, so we had the power and torque, but our last test car was burdened with an automatic transmission and - gasp - steering wheel-mounted push-button shifters. Not sporty. Not sporty at all. We complained that the car felt slow and sluggish, and we walked away from the Subaru a tad bit disappointed. Well, all the Legacy owners out there immediately jumped on us for driving the "wrong" sedan. "Get the manual," they said. And so a year later, we did. We called up Subaru and ordered up a 2007 Legacy GT with a manual transmission - the company ended up giving us its much-desired Legacy GT spec.B. You can stop reading here if you want, because the spec.B pretty much "fixes" any and all problems we had with the automatic car.
