May 3, 2007 - Infiniti's G35 coupe has been a smash hit since the moment it hit North American dealers. In addition to being one of the best-looking cars ever created, Infiniti's sports coupe boasts a strong performance heritage that quickly won over the hearts of enthusiasts. We all know that the G35 gets the legendary "Skyline" badge over in Japan - a fact that likely sold a few thousand cars to the Gran Tourismo set. What many people don't know is the fact that the G35 coupe shares a platform, chassis, suspension and engine with Nissan's 350Z. Think about it: on paper, the G35 coupe offers all the performance of Nissan's best Z ever in a (slightly) bigger and (much) nicer package. It has been said that the G35 is single-handedly responsible for Infiniti's current success. We've heard rumors of Nissan purposely withholding G coupes from the market as the car was cannibalizing sales of the 350Z. These same rumors were saying that Zs were languishing on dealer lots as potential Z buyers preferred the luxury appointments and space that the G35 provided over the Z. Whether or not these rumors are true or not, even Infiniti will go on record saying that the G is the most important vehicle in its lineup. With the new G35 sedan already out - and with the new G37 coupe set to hit showrooms shortly - we thought we'd take one last look at the car that has grown to define Infiniti: the G35 coupe.
